Full Job Description

South Shropshire Community Mental Health Service in Ludlow welcomes applications to a Band 4 Assistant Psychologist. This is permanent post working 37.5 hours per week within the Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin Care Group. In the role you will support and enhance the professional psychological care of clients within the service, providing psychological assessment and psychological interventions under the supervision of a qualified Clinical/Counselling Psychologist, working independently according to a plan agreed with the Clinical/Counselling Psychologist and within the overall framework of the service's policies and procedures. You will work with outpatients and staff of the primary and secondary care mental health services. You will assist in clinically related administration, conduct of audits, collection of statistics, and development of audit and/or research projects, teaching and project work. In Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin Care Group we have an active Psychology Group with regular Business and Topic Meetings, and opportunities to shadow psychologists in other roles and settings.,

  • To deliver a group programme for PCN Aligned Psychology
  • To assist in the co-ordination and running of therapeuticgroups.
  • To communicate and liaise with staff from otherdisciplines.
  • To assist in the development of a psychologically based framework of understanding and care to the benefit of all clients of theservice.
  • To attend and contribute to appropriate multi-disciplinary pathwaymeetings.
  • Provide advice, guidance and support to service users to enhance awareness of their psychologicalneeds
  • Assessment and formulation and some 1:1 intervention
  • Linking with wider CMHS at MDT
  • Facilitation of the group programme, working as a small team, developing further groups if needed.
