Full Job Description

Assistant Project Manager supports the delivery of projects or work packages, coordinating project management activities to achieve successful outcomes. The role involves supporting planning, performance monitoring, and decision-making, while working with stakeholders, applying project management best practices, and providing guidance and leadership to small teams where required. Core Duties:

  • Able to perform advanced project reporting & scheduling.
  • Able to undertake advanced problem solving typically based on previous experience.
  • Have an extensive knowledge of Business process and procedures.
  • Administration and general office skills including spreadsheets/ Microsoft packages.
  • Able to lead a small project or a work package of a larger project.
  • Able to manage the full project lifecycle to ensure that, over time, the needs of customers/users continue to be met and that financial and other benefits are achieved.
  • Identify, assesses and manages risks to the success of the project.
  • Applies appropriate PM methods and tools whether predictive (plan-driven) approaches or adaptive (iterative/agile) approaches.
  • Agrees project approach with stakeholders, and prepares realistic plans (including quality, risk and communications plans) and tracks activities against the project schedule, managing stakeholder involvement as appropriate.
  • This is a role for an experienced project professional with a small team and the ability to deliver with limited guidance from the Line Manager.

    You'll have extensive knowledge and understanding of project management policies, processes, procedures, and systems.
  • You'll have either a degree-level qualification or significant practical knowledge gained through relevant experience.
  • You'll hold a recognised project management qualification, such as the APM Project Management Qualification (PMQ) or an equivalent professional certification.
  • You'll be able to analyse and interpret large volumes of data, transforming it into meaningful insights while applying strong attention to detail and critically assessing data quality.
