Full Job Description
The RESTART (Reintegration into Education and School Through Achieving Resilience Together) provision sits within Education, Schools and Inclusion, supporting children and young people who face barriers to school attendance. Based at the Restart Hub in Dunston, the team works closely with families, schools, and multi-agency partners to promote inclusive practice, improve engagement, and enable successful reintegration into mainstream education. The service is focused on resilience, relationships, and tailored support, ensuring every young person has the opportunity to achieve positive educational outcomes. Making education accessible again for every child What you will get to do
- Lead as a champion for children and young people experiencing barriers to attendance, promoting inclusive practice across education settings
- Build and maintain strong relationships with learners, parents, carers, schools, and stakeholders
- Act as a key point of contact for parents and carers
- Monitor attendance and design, deliver, and evaluate targeted interventions
- Lead on reintegration planning, supporting successful returns to school
- Attend and contribute to planning meetings and reviews with schools
- Undertake home visits to support engagement
- Take on Designated Safeguarding Lead responsibilities, ensuring policies and procedures are followed
- Lead on first aid and manage individual healthcare plans
- Oversee health and safety, including risk assessments and acting as fire warden
- Coordinate assessments and examinations, ensuring compliance with regulations
- Empower and support colleagues to contribute innovative ideas
- Liaise daily with the RESTART Manager and escalate concerns appropriately
- Contribute to staff and leadership meetings
- Deputise for the RESTART Manager when required
- Undertake duties appropriate to the grade of the role
Strong knowledge of barriers to school attendance, reintegration strategies, SEND framework, safeguarding, and Key Stage 3-4 curriculum and exams - Experience working in educational settings with children and young people, particularly those with social, emotional, mental health or neurodiverse needs
- Proven ability to build effective relationships with young people and families using relational and trauma-informed approaches
- Experience working within multi-agency environments and advocating for children and young people
- Leadership capability, including managing workloads, supporting colleagues, and contributing to service improvement
- Strong communication and report-writing skills for a range of audiences
- Degree-level qualification (or equivalent experience), ongoing professional development, and ability to travel (full driving requirements met)

Salary £39,152 - £41,711 pro rata to term time working, actual Salary £33,989 - £36,922. Salary amounts quoted are from the 1 September to 31 August and therefore if you commence employment part way through the academic year they are subject to an equated salary adjustment,
