Full Job Description
Known internally as an Assistant Local Housing Manager, you'll work closely with the Local Housing Manager to create a safe, welcoming and supportive environment where residents can enjoy living independently in their own homes. What will you be doing? No two days are the same. You'll be involved in a wide range of activities that help our residents and the scheme run smoothly, including:
- Building positive and trusting relationships with residents, their families and the wider community.
- Supporting residents to maintain their independence, sustain their tenancies and access appropriate support when needed.
- Listening to residents, understanding their needs and helping to resolve issues in a positive and practical way.
- Helping to create a welcoming, inclusive community where residents feel valued and involved.
- Supporting the Local Housing Manager with the day-to-day management of the scheme.
- Assisting with making sure the building is safe, secure and well maintained, reporting issues and taking appropriate action.
- Helping residents reach agreement and find solutions to issues affecting their homes and community.
- Working with colleagues, contractors, professionals and community organisations to provide the best possible service to residents.
- Deputising for the Local Housing Manager when required.
This is a varied and rewarding role where your ability to build relationships, solve problems, provide excellent customer service and support people to live independently will be just as important as your previous experience., We're particularly interested in what you can bring to the role, rather than simply looking for someone who has done the same job before. You could be coming from customer service, care, retail, hospitality, administration, community work, property, education, the charity sector - or another role where you've developed strong people and organisational skills. We're looking for someone who is: People-focused - You enjoy getting to know people, listening to their needs and building positive relationships. A great communicator - You can communicate clearly and confidently with different people, both verbally and in writing. A problem solver - You're someone who looks for solutions, takes ownership and stays calm when faced with challenges. Organised and reliable - You can manage different priorities, keep accurate records and make sure things get done. Compassionate and respectful - You understand that everyone is different and you treat people with dignity, patience and understanding. Proactive - You don't always wait to be asked. You notice what needs doing and take action. Customer-focused - You care about providing a high-quality service and making a positive difference to people's everyday lives. A team player - You enjoy working collaboratively and are willing to support colleagues and the wider community. You'll need an excellent standard of reading, writing and numeracy. Experience of working with older people, vulnerable people, housing or community services would be desirable, but it isn't essential. Knowledge of issues affecting older or vulnerable people, including dementia, mental health or drug and alcohol use, would also be beneficial. A CIH Level 3 or 4 qualification is desirable, but not essential.

Working pattern: Flexible - working days and hours can be discussed at interview. The role requires availability to work on Fridays.
