Dulwich Prep & Senior is an exciting place to work. We are excited to launch our senior section this September, and boys will now be able to stay with us until GCSE.

We are looking for an enthusiastic Assistant Librarian to help champion our school library and support its daily operations. Working closely with our School Librarian, you'll play a key role in creating a welcoming and inspiring environment for our pupils.

We are seeking someone with a genuine interest in libraries and a sharp eye for detail. You will need excellent verbal and written communication skills, as well as a strong knowledge of young people's fiction and the ability to match books to readers. A qualification in librarianship (first degree or postgraduate) would be advantageous.

Your main responsibilities will include keeping our library organised and inviting, ensuring all fiction, non-fiction, and reference sequences are in perfect order, and shelving returned books promptly. You will also have the opportunity to lead engaging library induction sessions for pupils, helping them discover how to get the most out of our resources, to develop a love of learning, and offering guidance to both pupils and staff on information retrieval and reading materials.

The working hours are 8.00am to 4.30pm, two days a week. This role is term time, covering 36 weeks of the year.
