Full Job Description

We are seeking an ambitious and highly effective Assistant Headteacher with strong communication skills to join our established Senior Leadership Team and play a key role in the continued development of our school. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced leader who is passionate about high-quality teaching, raising standards and ensuring that every child is able to attend, belong, achieve and thrive. The post will be non-class-based in the first instance, enabling the successful candidate to fulfil the significant whole-school responsibilities of the role. The Assistant Headteacher will remain actively involved in teaching and learning and may model teaching, provide targeted teaching or intervention and work alongside colleagues. Deployment and teaching commitment may change in the future according to the needs and priorities of the school., Working closely with the Headteacher and existing SLT, you will have significant whole-school leadership responsibilities, including:

  • teaching and learning, curriculum, assessment and interventions;
  • supporting and developing teachers and subject leaders;
  • whole-school standards and school improvement;
  • attendance and punctuality;
  • Pupil Premium and improving outcomes for disadvantaged pupils;
  • championing Looked After and Previously Looked After Children (LAC/PLAC); and
  • acting as a Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead (DDSL)., Our school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. The successful candidate will be subject to appropriate safer recruitment and pre-employment checks, including an enhanced DBS check.
