Full Job Description

Reporting to the Head of Service - Finance you will be required to provide operational leadership across key Finance Service areas, including Accountancy, Transactional Services, Revenues, Welfare and Benefits, and finance systems. Working closely with the Head of Service - Finance, you will help ensure services are efficient, legally compliant, customer focused and continuously improving. This role supports strong financial governance, effective budget management, statutory compliance and high-quality advice to senior leaders, elected Members, budget holders and service managers. You will play a key part of medium-term financial planning, audit activity and development of policies, procedures and controls.
About the team:
To support the Council's vision, we in Finance work to the corporate objective of 'Leading a Well Run Council'. You will help lead and support a range of specialist teams that serve internal and external customers. You'll play a role in shaping the service's direction and embedding a culture of continuous improvement and collaboration.
What next?

You will be a professional qualified accountant with local government experience across a broad range of financial services. You will have experience managing multi-disciplinary finance teams, maintaining high performance, and delivering customer-focused services. You will combine strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to motivate and develop managers and teams. Excellent communication, technical and people skills will enable you to provide effective operational leadership.
