Assistant Head (Director of Studies)

Permanent / Full Time

Salary: Graded at L14 - L18 on the Truro School Salary Scales, Salary circa £71k

Start Date: September 2026

We are looking for a dynamic and forward-thinking leader to join our Senior School Leadership Team. The Assistant Head (Director of Studies) will oversee the whole-school academic provision, leading curriculum design, development, and review to ensure breadth, balance, progression, and full ISI compliance. They will chair the Curriculum Committee, guide subject pathways and qualifications, manage academic data systems, and ensure smooth delivery of examinations and the options process.

The postholder will be a member of the Senior School Leadership Team, contributing to school-wide strategic and operational decision-making, preparing reports for Governors, and playing a full part in the pastoral and co-curricular life of the School and its wider community.

This role involves line-managing senior academic staff, promoting a collaborative culture, contributing to key school policies, and supporting the recruitment and development of staff. The Assistant Head (Director of Studies) will play a central role in school life, attending events, fostering community relationships, and contributing to the School's public profile. They will also support day-to-day academic operations, staff wellbeing, and SSLT duties.

This is a key leadership role with strategic impact across learning, teaching, and the wider development of the School.
