Assistant General Manager Trauma & Orthopaedics, Band 6

The Assistant General Manager (AGM) will support the operational delivery of Trauma and Orthopaedic (T&O) services across Cheltenham General Hospital and Gloucestershire Royal Hospital. Working closely with the General Manager and Deputy General Manager, the post holder will play a key role in ensuring the effective day-to-day management of services, delivery of performance targets, and continuous improvement of patient pathways., Support the General Manager and Deputy General Manager in the operational delivery of Trauma & Orthopaedic services across both hospital sites.

- Ensure delivery of national and local performance targets, including Referral to Treatment (RTT) waiting times from GP referral to discharge

- Oversee the effective utilisation of theatre capacity and outpatient clinics, including proactive management of waiting lists and patient pathways.

- Provide leadership and oversight to Admissions Teams across both sites, ensuring consistent and high-quality service delivery.

- Monitor service performance, analyse data, and implement corrective actions to address variances and improve outcomes

- Support the delivery of service improvement initiatives and operational projects within the division.

- Facilitate effective communication and collaboration between clinical, administrative, and managerial teams

- Escalate risks, capacity issues, and performance concerns appropriately, providing solutions and recommendations

- Ensure compliance with Trust policies, procedures, and governance requirements

- Act as a key operational contact for the service, supporting decision-making and problem resolution in a dynamic environment

The role requires a highly organised and motivated individual with strong leadership capability, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively. The post holder will contribute to achieving Trust objectives, including waiting time standards, high-quality patient care, and financial recovery targets.
