This full-time, ongoing locum position is ideal for individuals who enjoy working outdoors, contributing to the environmental upkeep of a vibrant city, and taking pride in maintaining clean and green public spaces. Grounds Maintenance: Carry out grass cutting, strimming, pruning, and planting as part of the environmental maintenance programme.
Winter Operations: Support statutory duties such as snow clearance and gritting during colder months.
Operational Support: Work primarily within one area of Sunderland but assist in other localities as required.
Equipment and Safety: Conduct pre-use equipment checks, report faults, and adhere to all health and safety procedures.
Team Collaboration: Work closely with colleagues, follow team leader instructions, and communicate effectively through handheld ICT devices.
Physical Work: Perform frequent lifting, carrying, and outdoor work in all weather conditions.
Customer Interaction: Engage courteously and professionally with members of the public.
Flexibility: Be willing to work weekends and public holidays when required to meet the council's operational needs.
