Full Job Description
- Apply psychology to improve outcomes for vulnerable children and young people, including those with SEND and additional educational needs
- Deliver effective educational psychology support to children, families, educational settings and partner agencies, such as those within the cluster groups
- Support the Council to meet its statutory duties for vulnerable children and young people, including those with SEND
- Contribute to developing good practice within Children's Services across BCP
- Work in a child and family-focused way in partnership with Educational Psychologists, parents, children, young people and other professionals Main duties
- Contribute positively to service delivery, working under the supervision of Educational Psychologists on casework
- Support both statutory and non-statutory educational psychology work
- Develop and apply skills in consultation, assessment, target setting, monitoring and tracking progress for children and young people aged 0 to 25 with SEND
- Build knowledge of SEND systems, processes and evidence-based interventions
- Deliver interventions in schools and other settings as directed by a supervising EP
- Apply up-to-date understanding of SEND legislation, including the BCP Graduated Response
- Support transitions for young people with SEND into education, employment, training and independent living
- Contribute to service development through evaluation or project work
- Work collaboratively with schools and partner agencies to deliver tailored solutions based on evidence-informed practice
We are looking for someone who has: - A degree in psychology at 2:1 or higher
- A strong understanding of how psychology can improve outcomes for children and young people
- Knowledge of SEND within an educational context
- Understanding of the Children and Families Act 2014 and SEND Code of Practice
- Strong communication skills to work with colleagues, schools, professionals and young people
- A child and family-centred approach
- Solution-focused thinking
