Full Job Description

We are seeking to appoint an ambitious and passionate Assistant Cook to join our enthusiastic team of professionals. This post is on a permanent contract. In this role you will be required to supervise all staff in the catering operation within the Academy. You will complete administrative requirements, purchase stock as well as prepare healthy meals for pupils. Ensuring all staff are up to date with annual food safety training; food hygiene, allergen awareness and any changes to food legislation. Bothal Academy (Upper and Lower sites) is a great school in the centre of our vibrant community. With approximately 700 pupils on roll, we proudly serve the fantastic community of Ashington. The successful candidate will:

  • Supervise relevant personnel in school and welfare catering operations.
  • Complete some administration, purchasing, stock control, staff rotas and financial processes under the guidance of the Cook in Charge.
  • Prepare and produce relevant food and beverage in line with pupil requirements and legislation.
  • Pro-actively work in partnership to promote healthy eating and sales.
  • Ensure that the correct procedures are completed in relation to all kitchen tasks.
  • Assist in the preparation, serving and presentation of all food and beverages as directed by the Cook in Charge and Catering Services Manager whilst ensuring high level of customer satisfaction.
  • Will have a Level 2 Award in Food Safety in Catering or equivalent.
  • Will have a level 2 food hygiene certificate
