Introduction

Carry out property surveys and site inspections to record asset condition, identify future replacement needs, and support project delivery. To progress over a three-year period learning from projects and gaining experience of contract management, quality control, project management, health and safety, customer support and cost control.

What You'll Do

  • Work within the decarbonisation team on varied investment projects, including leaseholder consultation, to build project, contract and budget management skills, and support contract‑phase delivery to ensure contractors meet agreed quality and performance standards. 
  • Undertake joint building surveys for assessment and reporting through a formal schedule. 
  • Work with internal and external customers and stakeholders to monitor project‑level customer satisfaction, ensuring issues are resolved promptly and contractor performance on customer care is regularly reported. 
  • Support the preparation of detailed specifications and schedules of works and produce all documentation needed for an effective procurement exercise in accordance with the procurement policy and financial regulations. Undertake detailed analysis of tender prices and provide a final tender report including recommendations. 
    Develop the skills to prepare and submit documentation for Statutory Approvals, including Planning and Building Regulations, ensuring all required permissions are obtained within advised timelines. 
  • Work towards full competence in planning, managing, monitoring and coordinating project health and safety in line with CDM 2015, while monitoring and recording contractor performance and maintaining accurate project information. 
  • Carry out regular site surveys to collect stock data that informs strategic business planning. 
  • Build working knowledge of updating the MRI (Promaster) asset management database, develop a long‑term survey programme aligned with stock investment priorities, and ensure data is accurately presented for project progress records. 
  • Learn to identify HHSRS hazards in homes and ensure Category 1 hazards are resolved promptly. 
  • Report any repairs or specialist surveys required for defects identified whilst carrying out surveys. 
  • Identify and report any housing tenancy, welfare, or safeguarding concerns during visits. Signpost to teams such as Anti Social Behaviour (ASB), Neighbourhood Officers, Works and Money Advisors, Occupational Therapists. 
  • Provide basic advice to residents on correct use of the home including simple repairs the resident may be responsible for. 
  • Identify and record refusals and support the technical liaison officer with no access situations. 
  • Formulate and process data for analysis, measure and progress tracking. 
  • Support meetings by documenting accurate minutes, identifying key action points and associated timelines. 


Training Outcome

The apprentice will have the the opportunity to progress into a full-time, permanent role with the company.
