Full Job Description

We are seeking to appoint an organised, dynamic, and enthusiastic candidate to the role of Assistant Clinical Psychologist within our Child Psychotherapy team to offer an efficient clinical support service to our Child & Adolescent Psychiatry & Psychotherapy Liaison Team (CAPPLT).

The postholder will join a team of 6x clinicians provide acute outpatient and inpatient therapeutic interventions to children and their families.

This role is offered as part time working 2x full days and 1x half day, with the working pattern to be determined upon appointment, and is offered as a permanent role in our team.

This role is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to climb the ladder within a paediatric setting, or for those with the appropriate transferrable skills looking to start a career in the NHS.

Please note:

We reserve the right to close this vacancy early if we receive sufficient applications and therefore advise submission of applications at the earliest opportunity.

The Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Paediatric Liaison Team (CAPPLT) is a multidisciplinary team and is a service held within the wider Babies, Children's, & Young People Service (BCYP).

The team works with all areas of the paediatric service, and this includes the T2 Rainbow Ward, Neonatal Unit, Children's Outpatients, Children's Community Nursing & Hospital@Home teams, Paediatric ED and Paediatric Assessment Unit, and the Ocean Day Unit.

The team also takes referrals from Midwifery and other hospital departments. This post has been funded specifically to work within the sickle cell service and the majority of the post will be in this area with additional generic work dependent on the interest of the post holder.

The hospital is located on the border between Haringey and Enfield, at the most deprived part of each of these Boroughs. Both of these boroughs are two of the most ethnically diverse local authorities in the country and have some very high levels of social and economic deprivation and need with its attendant problems in Mental Health.

This role will involve clinical contact within the paediatric hospital environment with frequent exposure to very distressing situations. There is also potential exposure to infection in out and in-patient settings and a requirement to follow all related IPC processes and procedures.

There is a requirement to use computers on a daily basis.

North Middlesex University Hospital NHS Hospital Trust (NMUH) is one of London's busiest healthcare providers, providing hospital care and community services for the 350,000 people living in Enfield, Haringey and beyond.

Our specialist services include HIV, cardiology, blood disorders, diabetes, fertility, sickle cell and thalassemia. In addition to a full range of cancer diagnosis and treatment services, the Helen Rollason Cancer Support Centre is based on-site and provides services to support cancer patients' wellbeing.

We also provide community services and have a dedicated 0-19 service for children and young people in Enfield so that they can get the best possible start in life. This includes health visitors and school nurses who are delivering the national Healthy Child Programme, which provides a structured framework for the delivery of key interventions to support the health and wellbeing of children and families from 0 to 5 and school aged children from 5-19. The 0-19 service aims to improve pathways and partnerships with services in the hospital and deliver excellent care for the children and families.
