Full Job Description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Assistant Audiologist in the Audiology Department at Newcastle Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. The post holder will be required to work across various outreach sites as well as the Freeman hospital to support patients and will have the support of experienced colleagues to carry out the role. The main job purpose is:

  • Contact with patients for hearing aid repairs and ear mould impressions.
  • Maintaining close contact with patients when examining ears, taking impressions and inserting hearing aids.
  • Organise their own workload within a very busy department whilst ensuring the smooth running of all administration procedures including the processing of ear moulds, ordering and management of stock.

  • Liaise with internal and external bodies (e.g. GPs, Consultants and all other heads of department).
  • Deal with patients with a disability and first line of contact for patients attending the department.
  • Input of details, Patient information into Auditbase systems.
  • Assist with hearing aid stock control and basic hearing aid repair
  • Have good patient skills and communication skills with the hard of hearing patients.
  • Take ear impressions following BSA recommended procedures in adults and children >12 years.
