  • What you will do
  • Support assurance reviews across Council services, programmes, and operational areas.
  • Gather, analyse, and evaluate information and evidence to assess the effectiveness of controls and processes.
  • Assist in identifying risks, control weaknesses, compliance issues, and areas for improvement.
  • Maintain accurate records of assurance work, findings, evidence, and agreed actions.
  • Prepare clear reports, briefing notes, and summaries for managers and relevant governance forums.
  • Monitor progress against agreed recommendations and action plans.
  • Support the development and maintenance of risk, assurance, and control information.
  • Liaise with officers and managers across the Council to obtain information and clarify findings.
  • Contribute to the development of effective governance, risk management, and internal control arrangements.
  • Assist with quality assurance and follow-up work to establish whether agreed improvements have been implemented.
  • Keep up to date with relevant legislation, regulatory requirements, professional guidance, and Council policies.
  • Promote a positive assurance culture focused on continuous improvement, accountability, and value for money.
  • Undertake other duties appropriate to the level of the post.
