Asset Management - Regulatory Monitoring Consultant

Your work will vary across client assignments and may include:

• Analysing wastewater flow, spill, process and instrumentation data to identify anomalies, trends and potential compliance risks.
• Supporting flow-compliance investigations, root-cause analysis and corrective-action planning.
• Reviewing the selection, installation, calibration, operation and maintenance of monitoring instrumentation.
• Assessing whether monitoring arrangements and available data are fit for their intended operational and regulatory purpose.
• Supporting the development and assessment of instrumentation, quality or environmental management systems.
• Contributing to technical audits, assurance reviews and regulatory submissions.
• Supporting sensor strategies, monitoring asset plans, technical standards and investment programmes.
• Presenting clear, evidence-based findings to operational, technical and senior client stakeholders.
• Contributing to methods, guidance, training and the continued growth of our Regulatory Monitoring and Compliance capability.
• The role combines detailed technical investigation with a wider management-system perspective.
• You could move between reviewing an individual monitoring installation, analysing operational data and helping a client improve its governance, assurance or investment approach.
  
  Essential
• Relevant experience in the wastewater industry, gained through a water company, consultancy, contractor, technology provider, regulator or comparable environment.
• A working understanding of instrumentation and monitoring systems in an operational setting.
• The ability to interrogate data, identify issues and draw defensible conclusions.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Clear written and verbal communication.
• A structured and evidence-led approach to technical work.
• The ability to work collaboratively with operational, engineering, data and management stakeholders.
• Curiosity, sound judgement and a strong willingness to learn.
• Willingness to travel to client offices and operational sites when required.
• This role is specifically focused on wastewater. Applicants should be able to demonstrate meaningful exposure to wastewater operations, treatment, networks, monitoring or compliance.
Desirable
• Experience in one or more of the following would be beneficial, but is not essential:
• MCERTS, Event Duration Monitoring (EDM) or another regulated monitoring environment.
• Wastewater flow, spill or continuous water-quality monitoring.
• Flow measurement, calibration or instrument maintenance.
• Wastewater process engineering.
• Operational or time-series data analysis.
• Quality, environmental or instrumentation management systems.
• Regulatory reporting, technical assurance or auditing.
• Root-cause analysis and compliance investigation.
• Instrumentation asset planning or lifecycle management.
• Development of standards, procedures or technical training.
• Experience of visiting operational sites and working safely in site environments; this is beneficial rather than essential, and appropriate training will be provided.
• We are interested in your ability to reason with data, not simply your experience with a particular software package., You are likely to have a degree, apprenticeship or equivalent professional experience in instrumentation, engineering, water or wastewater, environmental science, data analytics, asset management or a related discipline.
• Professional registration, or a commitment to work towards it, would be welcomed but is not essential. We will actively support you through mentoring, guidance and relevant development opportunities.
• We are looking for someone with a strong technical foundation, curiosity and the willingness to develop expertise in an increasingly important area of the water industry.
• We equally value practical experience and recognise that strong capability can be developed through different career routes.
