Full Job Description

Assessor Business

Join Yeovil College as a Business Assessor Programme Manager and play a key role in developing the next generation of business professionals. You’ll bring your industry knowledge, coaching skills, and passion for apprenticeships to help learners build the skills, knowledge, and behaviours they need to succeed. You’ll manage a caseload of around 55-75 apprentices, delivering high-quality on- and off-the-job training, coaching, assessment, and support from enrolment through to Gateway and End Point Assessment.

Working closely with apprentices, employers, and colleagues, you’ll create structured learning plans, set and monitor milestones, carry out regular progress reviews, and ensure the required off-the-job training, Functional Skills, and qualifications are completed and accurately recorded. You’ll use Smart Assessor to track progress and evidence achievement, ensure compliance with apprenticeship standards, funding rules, and awarding organisation requirements, and identify and overcome barriers to progress.

You’ll also contribute to the development of apprenticeship standards and learner journeys, support recruitment and curriculum planning, participate in quality assurance and standardisation, and work collaboratively across the College to deliver an outstanding apprentice experience. Above all, you’ll inspire apprentices to achieve their potential, raise their aspirations, and progress into successful careers. Turn your experience into someone else's success - apply today.

What we're looking for:

  • Strong industry expertise with at least 3 years practical experience in the relevant business area, with the occupational knowledge and qualifications to support apprentice development.

  • A commitment to learner success, able to set challenging but achievable targets, motivate apprentices, and provide effective support to help them achieve.

  • Teaching and assessment capability, such as an assessing or teaching qualification, or a willingness to work towards one.

  • Confident digital skills, comfortable using IT and online portfolio systems to support learning, assessment, and progress.

  • Excellent communication skills, able to build positive, professional relationships with apprentices, employers, and colleagues.

  • Organised and proactive, able to use your initiative, work collaboratively, and represent Yeovil College professionally.

What we offer:

  • Annual Salary: £36,013 to £39,917 depending on experience

  • Full-time position, 37 hours per week, all year round or substantial part time

  • 35 days holiday FTE (plus Christmas closure & bank holidays)

  • Generous pension scheme of 28.68% employer contributions

  • Staff discount scheme with high street and online retailers

  • Opportunities for professional development and career growth

  • Employee assistance programme

  • Free onsite gym

  • Subsidised catering facilities

  • Cycle to work scheme

  • Access to free staff parking
