Milk Education is working with a large SEND specialist provision in the Hounslow area to recruit an Aspiring Psychologist - Learning Support Assistant with a genuine passion for supporting children and young people with Autism. This role is ideal for someone looking to gain paid, hands-on experience in a school-based setting while working towards a career in psychology, mental health, or education. You will work as an Autism Support Worker, focusing on learners with Autism and ADHD, alongside a range of additional learning needs - including pupils who are non-verbal or have significant communication differences.   • Provide consistent 1:1 and small-group support for pupils aged 5-19 with complex SEND, including Autism and ADHD
  • Support non-verbal pupils using alternative and augmentative communication (AAC) strategies
  • Use tools such as Makaton, visual timetables, and communication boards to support understanding and engagement
  • Support the delivery of Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs)
  • Encourage emotional regulation, communication, and engagement in learning
  • Communicate clearly and respectfully with teachers, school staff, and external professionals

    Experienced support workers open to working with children (well suited due to complex needs of pupils)
  • Previous experience administering personal care is advantageous, or a willingness to support in this area if required
  • A genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs

  • Strong communication skills with the ability to adapt to individual needs
  • Ability to work proactively, both independently and as part of a team
  • An Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply)
