Full Job Description
We are looking for a dedicated and hard-working Learning Support Assistants to join our ASC Centre team at Oxford college. The successful applicants will be supporting students with Autism and other associated difficulties on courses which are designed for those with Autism and associated difficulties or supporting students to access their course. These courses are from Foundation Level 1 courses to Level 3 courses. There will be an expectation to support in all areas. You will be responsible for facilitating individual learning programmes, providing support to our learners in small groups and 1-1 activities when attending the ASC Centres. You will be required to facilitate the students learning using provided resources and lesson plan in a creative and purposeful way making adaptions for learners to access their lessons to support their progression. This will be in collaboration with the ASC Group Teachers to meet the needs of the learners. You will also be required to support learners to access learning on their course within the mainstream learning environment and off-site activities. Personal care may form part of the duties of this role where appropriate. This is a full time (35 hours per week) Monday - Friday between 8.30/9am - 4/4.30pm, term time only position. (Term time only salary calculator - your pay will be based on your working hours per week, multiplied by the number of weeks worked, plus 6 weeks holiday and will be spread equally over 12 months).
This is a challenging role that requires resilience, motivation, initiative and patience. You will be able to provide support to students with Autism and associated difficulties. You will have good communication skills to be able to work with tutors to ensure the delivery of an effective programme of further education and to work as part of a co-ordination team. A qualification in Autism or other associated difficulties is not essential but a willingness to learn about Autism and the other difficulties a young person may experience is essential.
