We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced individual to join the Army Headquarters as the Head of Data Governance. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in leading and managing the Army's Data and Information Lifecycle Capability, providing strategic oversight and leadership in all aspects of data and information governance and use, ensuring the effective use of data to support decision-making within the Army.

It is essential to ensure effective communication, task delegation, and timely delivery of the Army Data Governance strategy. Direct resources, timelines, and stakeholder expectations are key responsibilities in ensuring success. You will foster collaboration, problem-solving, and adaptability within your team, and navigate the complexities of data and digital projects to achieve desired outcomes in line with Strategic outputs for the Army.

In this role you will :

Champion Modern Ways of Working: Drive the governance and ethics around the Army's adoption of digitalisation in accordance with Defence /cross government and Army design Authority policies and direction
Empower Decision-Making: Develop and deploy relevant data and tools that provide actionable insights to leadership, enabling data-driven decision-making at all levels
Drive Cultural Change: Foster a culture of innovation and continuous improvement by championing the use of digital technologies across the directorate, providing training and support to empower teams to embrace new ways of working
Collaborate for Success: Partner with Defence Digital, Head Office, and the Strategic Hub to ensure alignment with broader MOD digital / data strategies and leverage best practices
Shape the Future: Stay at the forefront of digital and data advancements including AI, continuously exploring new applications and opportunities to enhance the directorate's capabilities

Key Responsibilities will include:

Deputise for the Chief Data Officer for the Army in developing and implementing the Army's Data Governance Strategy
Strategic lead and manager within the Army Chief Digital and Data Branch, including Data Protection, Knowledge Management, Army Data Analytics and Data Governance ensuring high performance, motivation, and professional development
Collaborate with other departments to identify data needs, develop data collection processes, and ensure data quality and integrity
Stay up-to-date and work closely with the latest trends and technologies in data exploitation and drive innovative solutions to improve data capabilities
Drive the implementation of data governance policies and procedures to ensure compliance with legislative regulations and industry frameworks and standards.
Be accountable for understanding and managing the organisational data risks and issues, and co-ordinating with data owners to accept or resolve them
Design and implementation of a data analytics strategy covering tools, techniques, and best practices
Represent the Army demand in engagement across Defence Digital and wider government, and contribute to all working groups related to data, analytics, strategy and exploitation
