  • Perform quality and safety audits on both in-house and sub-contractor teams. Carry out regular 1-1s with arborists, offering advice and guidance. Support operational needs by carrying out tree work operations with a team of Arborists when required. Establish a positive safety culture so employees understand safe systems of work and are appropriately trained and equipped. Ensure compliance with health and safety requirements (risk assessments, method statements, equipment inspections, work-at-height controls, incident reporting). Apply relevant legislation and guidance on occupiers' liability, tree protection, highways, planning, conservation areas, statutory wildlife protection and workplace safety. Investigate incidents, complaints and service failures, identify root causes and implement corrective action. Support business planning (resource requirements, equipment replacement, recruitment, training and investment priorities). Undertake other duties reasonably

    consistent with the scope and seniority of the role.Person Specification Education: Ideally qualifications in Arboriculture to Level 4 or above (desirable), other relevant operational certificates, or a strong understanding of NPTC/LANTRA competence requirements. Experience: Significant experience in arboricultural operations, risk management and the specification or supervision of tree works. Leadership: Demonstrable experience managing employees, contractors, workloads and service standards. Technical knowledge: Strong knowledge of tree biology, structural defects, pests and diseases, tree-risk principles, pruning, planting, removals and establishment care. Health and Safety: Practical knowledge of risk assessment, safe systems of work, contractor control, work at height, chainsaw operations, rigging and relevant workplace safety requirements. Law and Regulation: Working knowledge of relevant UK arboricultural, planning, environmental, wildlife, highway and health and safety
  • requirements.
  • Commercial capability: Experience managing budgets, quotations, contracts, procurement or supplier performance. Digital Skills: Ability to use Microsoft Office packages; experience with CRM systems and app-based quotation and reporting systems. Mobility: Ability to travel between sites and work outdoors in varying conditions; a valid driving licence (driving is essential to the post). Communication: Ability to explain complex or sensitive decisions to staff, contractors and customers.Working ConditionsRegular site visits, including access to uneven terrain, highways, construction sites and other commercial/domestic locations.
