The Arboretum Inclusion Key Worker will play a vital role in supporting our most vulnerable students within one of Sidney Stringer Academy's alternative learning spaces. This role focuses on providing targeted intervention, trauma-informed support, and educational continuity for students with social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs who require additional support to access mainstream education. The postholder will work as part of a dedicated team to create a nurturing, structured environment that enables students to re-engage with learning, develop essential life skills, and successfully transition back into traditional classrooms and spaces where appropriate.

  • GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and mathematics (grade C/4 or above)
  • Level 2 or 3 qualification in Supporting Teaching and Learning, Youth Work, Children's Workforce, or equivalent relevant field
  • Willingness to undertake training in trauma-informed practice, behaviour management, and safeguarding
  • Experience working with children or young people with SEMH needs, challenging behaviour, or those at risk of exclusion
  • Experience delivering small-group or 1:1 interventions.
  • Awareness of the barriers to learning faced by students with SEMH needs
  • Resilience and emotional stability when working with complex and challenging behaviour

As the Arboretum Inclusion Key Worker within Sidney Stringer Academy, you'll be able to make a key difference to a pupil's educational experience as a crucial part of the wider team, and will have the opportunity to develop your skill set with key training and development opportunities available.

37 hours per week - term time only plus 5 days
  • Monday to Thursday - 8.30am to 4.30pm Friday - 8.30am to 4.00pm
