Introduction

The Power system apprenticeship role is a developmental position within the Cummins power systems distribution business. On completion of this apprenticeship, you will obtain a NVQ Level 3 qualification in Mechatronics Maintenance Technician, the stepping stone to higher learning.

What You'll Do

We are looking for an enthusiastic Power Generation Apprentice to join our team specializing in commissioning Cummins diesel generator sets for the business, Cummins Power Systems, based in Leeds but will be traveling around the UK (Countrywide).

During your apprenticeship with us, you will learn how a major global organization operates, gaining the tools and exposure you will need to become an expert in the industry and power your potential!

In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:

  • Assisting with the delivery and commissioning of power generation equipment, and fuel systems, selective catalytic reduction systems, and other auxiliary systems.
  • Supporting engineers and technicians in setting to work, fault finding, repairs, and inspections, commissioning. Load testing and monitoring results for the customer.
  • Monitoring performance data and helping ensure systems run efficiently and within safety standards.
  • Learning to interpret technical drawings, schematics, and control systems.
  • Following strict health, safety, and environmental regulations.
  • Participating in routine maintenance schedules and shutdown activities.

To be successful in this role you will need the following:

  • GCSEs (or equivalent), including Math’s, English, and Physics at 5/B or above, all other subjects taken 4/C or above.
  • A level in Math’s, English and Mechanical Engineering is desirable.
  • An interest in engineering, energy, or technical work. working with the use of hand tools. 
  • UK Resident/Citizen for the last 3 years
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety
  • Be able to work on construction sites around the UK – over the age of 18 years.
  • Be fit for working in a high-performance environment.
  • Clean driver’s license is needed for the role.

Working Arrangements

Working Week: During the apprenticeship you will work 5 days per week, inclusive of 2 day per week for study at Kirklees College, Huddersfield. The working hours are 8.00am to 4.00pm, with occasional overtime.

Expected Duration: 3 Years 6 Months
