Full Job Description

A Vehicle and Equipment Technician is a valued member of the Technical Services Centre which maintains and repairs fire service vehicles and equipment. The post holder will receive comprehensive training from experienced technicians, developing the skills and knowledge needed to inspect, service, repair and maintain all fire service vehicles and equipment including the emergency fleet, support vehicles and ladders.

This role offers an excellent opportunity to develop technical skills, gain a recognised qualification and contribute to the delivery of an effective and reliable emergency service., In return the post offers 27 days annual leave rising to 32 days after 5 years, provision of uniform and workwear, sports facilities, car parking and a pension scheme. They will also work towards an apprenticeship as a Heavy Vehicle Service and Maintenance Technician to Level 3.

Information relating to the training provider:

The programme duration is approximately 36 months and has 17 residential blocks (weeks) of training and assessment over that period with the apprentice attending a final time, (18th block) to undertake their Qualification End Assessment.

The training (residential blocks) will take place at the Scania Training Centre which is based in Milton Keynes. Training starts on Monday at 11:00am and finishes on Friday 12:00pm.

Apprentice accommodation, meals and travel will be provided at no cost to the successful candidate.
