What You'll Do

• Preparing surfaces for decoration, including sanding, filling and cleaning.
• Assisting with masking and protecting areas before work begins.
• Learning how to apply paints, primers and other coatings using brushes, rollers and spray equipment.
• Assisting with wallpaper hanging and decorative finishes.
• Mixing and preparing materials and equipment.
• Maintaining a clean, safe and organised working environment.
• Following health and safety procedures on site.
• Loading, unloading and storing materials and equipment.
• Working alongside experienced painters and decorators to develop practical skills.
• Attending college and completing coursework towards the apprenticeship qualification.
• Travelling to a variety of residential and commercial sites across the South West.

Training Outcome

Upon successful completion of the apprenticeship, there may be an opportunity to secure a permanent position as a qualified Painter and Decorator within the company. Further career progression opportunities may include becoming a Team Leader or Supervisor for the right candidate.
