Full Job Description
We have an exciting opportunity for you to join the University of Oxford as an Apprentice IT Support Officer within the Department of Oncology. This varied and hands-on role offers the chance to develop technical IT skills while delivering a high-quality, customer-focused support service. Working across multiple departments and divisions, you will support the setup, maintenance and troubleshooting of IT equipment, systems and audio-visual services. You will gain experience providing first-line support to staff and students, assisting with device setup, network access, and resolving IT issues, while learning to manage multiple requests effectively. As part of a cohort of apprentices, you will contribute to a wide range of IT activities and projects across the University. About the apprenticeship As part of this role, you will undertake an Apprenticeship with Basingstoke ITEC, where you will complete an 18-month training programme leading to the ST0973 Information Communications Technician (Support Technician) Apprenticeship. For this apprenticeship, you will work at the University of Oxford - Department of Oncology at the Old Road Campus Research Building, at the Old Road Campus in Headington, Oxford. As part of your apprenticeship, you will be required to meet with trainers from Basingstoke ITEC (these meetings are delivered remotely or on site at the university). In total, the apprenticeship is expected to take up to 24 months, including 18 months of training and up to 3 months to complete the End-Point Assessment (EPA). The 24-month contract provides additional flexibility to support individual learning requirements and operational needs, with ongoing support from the Department and Training Provider throughout the programme. - -C in GCSE Maths and English, or equivalent. Regardless of your prior qualifications Basingstoke ITEC will require you to complete a short initial assessment during the application process. There are also government residency requirements for Apprenticeship funding which the Training Provider will be able to advise on.
