About this Role
Do you enjoy working outdoors, have a passion for nature, and want to build a career in horticulture?
Radley College is offering a fantastic opportunity for an Apprentice Gardener to join our skilled and friendly gardening team. Set within 800 acres of stunning historic grounds, designed in part by Capability Brown, the College boasts formal gardens, ornamental borders, fruit trees, lakes, meadows, lawns and beautiful landscaped spaces that provide an outstanding environment in which to learn and develop.
This is much more than a gardening job. It is an opportunity to gain hands-on experience, work towards a recognised qualification, and learn from experienced horticultural professionals while helping to maintain one of the country's most beautiful educational settings.
Over the course of the two-year apprenticeship, you will develop practical skills in all aspects of garden maintenance and landscape care. From planting and pruning to lawn care, hedge cutting and seasonal displays, no two days are the same. You will work across the College's diverse grounds, helping to ensure they are maintained to the highest standards throughout the year.
We're looking for someone who is enthusiastic, reliable and eager to learn. You don't need previous gardening experience, but you will need a genuine interest in horticulture, a willingness to work outdoors in all weather conditions, and the motivation to develop new skills. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys physical work, takes pride in a job well done, and can work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
In return, you'll receive structured training, support from experienced colleagues, and the chance to develop a rewarding career in horticulture. For the right candidate, there is the possibility of securing a permanent full-time position at the end of the apprenticeship.
