Introduction
Alma terrace Dental practice is a small family run surgery dental practice aiming at providing great NHS care while helping develop young staff who want a career in dental nursing or further a field like dental hygiene / therapy.
About the Employer
Alma Terrace Dental Practice is a local dental clinic located at 3 Alma Terrace, Silloth, Wigton, CA7 4DS. It operates in a converted mid-terrace house, offering both NHS and private dental treatments for adults and children in Cumbria.
What You'll Do
- As a Trainee Dental Nurse / Receptionist, you will be integral to providing high-quality patient care in a dental setting
- Reporting to the lead dentist, your role will involve assisting with patient interactions, managing appointments, and ensuring smooth operations within the practice
- Your core skills in patient care will be complemented by your relevant abilities in communication, IT, and organisational skills, enabling you to effectively support both patients and dental staff
- This position offers a valuable opportunity to develop your nursing skills while contributing to a positive patient experience in a professional environment
Responsibilities:
- Provide high-quality patient care by assisting with dental procedures and ensuring patient comfort
- Manage reception duties, including scheduling appointments and handling patient enquiries
- Maintain accurate patient records and manage sensitive information with confidentiality
- Utilise IT systems for efficient communication and organisation of patient data
- Collaborate with dental professionals to ensure smooth clinic operations and effective teamwork
As a Apprentice Dental Nurse you will achieve a Level 3 qualification following an 18-24 month training programme. Before taking your end-point assessment, you must achieve level 2 English and Maths (equivalent to GCSEs at grades A* to C) if you have not already achieved them and can provide evidence confirming this.
Training Outcome
The successful candidate will work towards achieving a Level 3 qualification in dental nursing whilst gaining valuable experience in a dental practice.
Upon completion of the Level 3 qualification, you will be an experienced and qualified dental nurse, and as such, you can continue building up skills that will always be in-demand. You could progress to acquire specialist qualifications in areas such as sedation, dental radiography, and oral health education.
You may take on more responsibilities as a trainer for other dental nurses or move into a management role within your dental practice. You might decide to apply for a course to qualify as a dental hygienist or therapist.
