Introduction

We are a 9 surgery Dental practice located in the heart of Bury St Edmunds, we have 2 partners, 6 Associate dentists, 1 specialist perio, 5 hygienists, 13 nurses and 2 receptionists, 3 admin. The team are looking to recruit for an Apprentice Dental Nurse.

We are a general dental practice who also specialise in Implants and facial aesthetics.



What You'll Do

Main Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Keep all clinical areas and equipment clean, tidy and sterile as appropriate according to the practice health and safety and infection control procedures and manufacturer’s instructions
  • Use all equipment and machinery in accordance with the manufacturer’s recommendations and ensure that they are maintained regularly and in good working order
  • Provide chairside assistance, ensuring the correct equipment is available
  • Ensure the care and welfare of Patients at all times
  • Accurately complete patient clinical records as directed
  • Handle all substances in accordance with health and safety policies
  • Be familiar and comply with all health and safety rules and guidance, including PPE, COSHH, mercury handling, infection control, waste disposal etc.
  • Develop and file radiographs
  • Complete laboratory request forms, keep records of work sent, received and fitted
  • Ensure Adequate stocks of materials and other items are in the surgery
  • Place order requests for surgery clinical supplies with the Practice Coordinator
  • Ensure that computer/written records are accurately maintained, and securely stored
  • Liaise with reception to ensure smooth patient communications and transfer of records
  • Attend and participate in practice meetings
  • Other duties as necessary for the efficient operation of the practice, this will include reception duties and decontamination room cover
  • Undergo regular training  to develop skills and ability, to include CPR and medical emergencies
  • Act in accordance with the Practice rules and code of conduct


Training Outcome

To work within the surgery environment for a dentist, or hygienist and in future the qualification can progress to becoming a hygienist.

Working Arrangements

Working Week: 07.45 - 17.45 Monday to Thursday, Friday 07.45 - 17.00 and 07.45 - 12.15 Saturday (1 per month).

Expected Duration: 1 Year 6 Months
