Introduction

The apprentice will support the delivery of responsive repairs and empty home repairs across our homes. Working alongside experienced colleagues and an appointed mentor, the apprentice will gain practical workplace experience while contributing to the delivery of a high-quality service to customers.

Cobalt Housing Property Services delivers repairs, maintenance and improvements to customers' homes.



What You'll Do

  • Work alongside an appointed mentor to carry out repairs, installations and maintenance of timber fixtures, fittings and structures
  • Develop practical skills in first-fix and second-fix carpentry, joinery, installation and repair
  • Assist with repairing, replacing and installing doors, frames, skirting boards, architraves, kitchen units, flooring and other timber components
  • Develop accurate measuring, marking, cutting, fitting and finishing techniques
  • Learn to adjust and repair doors, windows, locks, ironmongery and other fixtures within occupied homes
  • Develop knowledge of building materials, construction methods and maintenance within a social housing environment
  • Use joinery tools, materials and equipment safely and effectively

Learning & Development:

  • Develop knowledge, skills and behaviours in line with the apprenticeship standard
  • Participate fully in training, coaching and development opportunities
  • Seek guidance and feedback from mentors, supervisors, college and training providers
  • Gain experience across different areas of Cobalt, including Customer Business Hub, Communities and Scheduling, to understand social housing and customer service
  • Develop confidence using Cobalt's internal systems, technology and equipment

Communication & Customer Service:

  • Communicate professionally and respectfully with customers, colleagues, training providers and assessors
  • Deliver excellent customer service and contribute to a positive customer experience
  • Attend meetings and reviews to discuss progress, development and learning needs
  • Respond positively to feedback and use it to improve skills and knowledge
  • Build effective working relationships and learn from experienced trade operatives

Health, Safety & Wellbeing:

  • Follow risk assessments, method statements, policies and procedures at all times
  • Wear appropriate PPE and use tools, equipment and materials safely
  • Take responsibility for personal health and safety and report concerns to a supervisor or mentor
  • Seek guidance when undertaking unfamiliar tasks and develop increasing responsibility as skills and confidence grow

You’ll learn from experienced tradespeople, gain hands-on experience in our customers’ homes and work towards a recognised apprenticeship qualification.
