Full Job Description
StepChange is looking for an API Engineer to help design and deliver secure, scalable, and easy-to-maintain APIs that connect our internal systems with external services. You'll work within an Agile team and use AWS technologies to support our integration strategy by building reusable patterns, encouraging best practices, and making sure data and services flow smoothly.
As a key part of the integration team, you'll be involved in the full API journey-from design and development through to deployment, monitoring, and ongoing improvements-helping us build the strong foundations needed to support our exciting digital ambitions.
What you'll be doing
You'll design, develop, and maintain secure, scalable APIs and integration solutions using AWS services like API Gateway, Lambda, and Step Functions. You'll ensure APIs are well-documented, versioned, tested, and built to the highest standards of security and quality.
Working within Agile teams, you'll collaborate with Product Owners, Analysts, and Architects to deliver effective integrations, troubleshoot issues in production, and contribute to improving CI/CD pipelines and monitoring tools. You'll also keep technical documentation clear and work closely with support teams to resolve any integration challenges quickly and efficiently.
Are you ready to make an impact with your engineering expertise?
Do you love solving complex integration challenges in the cloud?
Are you passionate about building secure, scalable APIs that drive real impact?, You'll have great experience building APIs and integrations using AWS, and be comfortable with Typescript or Node.js. Knowing REST, HTTP, and async patterns, plus tools like CloudWatch, will really help.
You'll enjoy working in Agile teams, using CI/CD and infrastructure-as-code tools. Security knowledge and clear communication with different teams are important. Most of all, you'll be passionate about writing clean code and making things better every day.
