Full Job Description

Following the retirement of one of its long-serving Animal Health Officers, Worcestershire County Council is looking to recruit a permanent replacement into this role. Animal Health sits within the Commercial Standards part of Trading Standards alongside the food standards, animal feed, weights and measures and product safety functions.

The service is intelligence-led, operating to the Trading Standards Intelligence Operating Model. The successful candidate will therefore be expected to deliver the full range of tasked activities within their area of expertise including inspections, investigations and project work, as well as looking for intelligence-based cases to submit to the service's monthly tasking meeting for development and delivery. The focus for this post is the animal disease control function, so the focus is on farm businesses and associated premises, plus the very busy livestock market in Worcester. Some work on animal welfare would form part of this but only in certain circumstances.

The team is co-located with the shared regulatory service, delivered on behalf of the district councils, with officers working closely with Environmental Health and Licensing colleagues.

To be successful you should also be able to deal with a wide range of different customers and stakeholders as we are looking to engage with a wide range of partners. Modern Trading Standards work requires good relationships with a range of bodies and the successful candidate to need to maintain some of those. We are looking to engage with a wide range of partners and expand our portfolio of Primary Authority Businesses. If you are looking for new challenges, then we'd like to hear from you.

While you are working hard, doing your best for the people of Worcestershire, we will do our best to provide an environment that supports and inspires you. Here are some of the top reasons why you should work here.

Equality & Diversity: The County Council is committed to equality of opportunity for all citizens and celebrates the diversity of all its residents., The work we do at Worcestershire County Council matters!
