Help shape a welcoming, thoughtful and supportive faith community within one of the UK's leading universities Lancaster University is seeking an Anglican Chaplain to join our Multi-Faith Chaplaincy Team and help nurture a compassionate, inclusive and spiritually enriching environment for students and staff from all backgrounds and beliefs. This is a unique opportunity for a priest who values pastoral presence, meaningful connection and collaborative ministry, and who is passionate about accompanying people through some of the most formative moments of their lives. Based at the heart of our vibrant campus community, you will work closely with colleagues across the University and Diocese to support wellbeing, belonging, reflection and spiritual growth. You will help create spaces where people feel listened to, valued and able to explore faith, purpose and vocation in an open and hospitable environment. Working alongside the Lead Chaplain and wider chaplaincy team, you will contribute to an established and growing worshipping community while also building supportive relationships across the wider University, local churches and student organisations. What you will bring We are looking for someone who:

  • Is an ordained Anglican priest in good standing
  • Brings warmth, empathy and emotional intelligence to pastoral relationships
  • Enjoys building trusted relationships across diverse communities
  • Feels comfortable working collaboratively within a multi-faith environment
  • Can support and encourage students and staff through challenge, transition and growth
  • Is thoughtful, reflective and grounded in their own faith journey
  • Has the confidence to work with initiative while remaining supportive and collegiate
  • Values inclusion, dialogue and community building
  • Experience of chaplaincy within education or student settings would be welcomed, although we also recognise that ministry experience can be gained through a variety of contexts. About the role The Anglican Chaplain will:
  • Offer pastoral support to students and staff of all faiths and none
  • Help foster a welcoming Christian presence across campus
  • Support the development of the University's worshipping community
  • Work alongside student groups, local churches and faith organisations
  • Contribute to events and moments important to University life, including graduations, memorial services and seasonal celebrations
  • Support wellbeing initiatives and signpost students and staff to specialist services where appropriate
  • Play an active role within the wider Multi-Faith Chaplaincy Team
  • The role offers considerable opportunity to shape ministry around your gifts, interests and experience.
