Full Job Description
We are looking for experienced anaesthetic practitioners to join our Lewisham Surgical Centre team to provide direct patient care prior and during anaesthesia and to assist the anaesthetists in the provision of anaesthetics and preparation of equipment and monitoring.
The LSC, currently under construction at the heart of University Hospital Lewisham, is set to be a cutting edge facility, serving all of south east London and running a high volume of Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT) day case procedures.
ENT procedures currently have one of the largest waiting lists of any specialty in the country. As such, this will be a fast-paced, highly rewarding role based around two brand-new theatres running six days per week, 10 hours per day, delivering six all-day lists, 48 weeks per year. The centre would be 12 all days extended lists as two theatres.
You will be accountable and responsible for providing a high standard of patient focused individualised care, with an evidenced based practice focus. You will also be able to communicate effectively with the multidisciplinary team and contribute to the effective running of the theatre /department.
If you are already working in the areas of anaesthetics or would like to peruse a new career pathway in this specialty, then now is your opportunity to join a hard-working and dedicated team.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will be accountable and responsible for providing a high standard of patient focused individualised care, with an evidenced based practice focus.
They will be expected to carry out aspects of patient care without direct supervision. They will be able to communicate effectively with the multidisciplinary team and contribute to the effective running of the theatre / department.
Utilising the principles of the national framework and local strategy of Clinical Governance and other national initiatives, they will participate in action on improvements in patient care. The post holder will carry out all duties in accordance with the Nursing and Midwifery (NMC) Codes of Conduct, HCPC and Relevant Trust policies.
