Full Job Description
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Allied Health Professional (AHP) to lead the strategic development of workforce , education and professional development across our AHP services. This influential position will be the driving force behind high-quality AHP workforce planning, education, and professional standards, and will play a key role in shaping a highly skilled, sustainable workforce. The post holder will work closely with the Chief AHP to lead strategic workforce initiatives, champion innovative staffing solutions, and ensure our services are safe, sustainable, and future-ready. The post holder will lead Trust-wide efforts to optimise e-rostering and SafeCare, support AHP leaders in delivering robust workforce models, and represent the Chief AHP at key internal and external forums. With a strong focus on education and career development, the post holder will create excellent learning environments, build strong partnerships with universities, and ensure compliance with HCPC standards across practice-based learning. This is an exciting opportunity for a forward-thinking AHP leader who is passionate about education, workforce transformation, and improving patient outcomes through workforce excellence. Band 8a, subject to AfC, as shown on the attached Job Description. Main duties of the job Work with the Chief AHP to develop and implement policies and procedures that support effective staffing and safe AHP workforce planning. Lead the Trust's AHP workforce planning, including long-term workforce strategies and modernisation of AHP services and education. Support the delivery of Trust-wide strategic objectives through high-level workforce planning and service redesign. Act as the Trust's subject matter expert for AHP E-roster/SafeCare systems. Monitor the impact of workforce decisions on patient care using technology and data. Support AHP Leads in workforce modelling, and development of sustainable staffing solutions. Develop systems for identifying workforce shortfalls and opportunities for redeployment. Identify workforce risks, develop action plans and escalate concerns where appropriate. Lead on AHP education and training across the Trust, ensuring high-quality career pathways and learning environments. Monitor, support and ensure the quality of learning for pre-registration AHP students and post-registration learners. Translate learning from incidents, complaints and audits into practice improvement. Lead defined projects and deputise for the Chief AHP at internal, regional and national forums. Drive a culture of continuous quality improvement and evidence-based workforce planning., Be an AHP leader and role model for clinical services with the responsibility and accountability for professional standards Be professionally accountable and maintain the standards of professional practice as set by the appropriate regulatory body applicable to your profession or role. Support the Chief AHP to implement local and national drivers for safe AHP workforce, safe AHP staffing, role development and AHP recruitment to ensure appropriate safety and efficiencies are implemented and realised Support the optimisation and the use of SafeCare and Health roster systems to allow real time visibility of workforce requirements and identify potential workforce inefficiencies/deficiencies Support the AHP Leads in completion of workforce establishment reviews and sustainable workforce models including report writing Deputise for Chief AHP at internal and external events/meetings Contribute to the AHP workforce plan with the Chief AHP Produce high level reports in relation to workforce key performance indicators Job description, Be an AHP leader and role model for clinical services with the responsibility and accountability for professional standards Be professionally accountable and maintain the standards of professional practice as set by the appropriate regulatory body applicable to your profession or role. - HCPC registered Allied Health Professional
- Significant experience at Band 7 level or above with staff leadership skills
- Knowledge of current NHS/Higher Education policy and their implication for services
- Experience of data collection/analysis, audit and evaluation including use of databases Person Specification Essential Essential
