Are you an experienced engineering leader with a background in defence manufacturing and a passion for delivering complex projects? Evodia Limited is partnering with a major defence client seeking a SC cleared Production Engineering Manager to oversee manufacturing activity within an engaging, high-profile programme. This pivotal role is based in Merthyr Tydfil with an agile hybrid working approach - 3 days onsite, 1 day in Bristol, and 1 day working from home. The position runs until March 2027, with scope for extension, and attracts a competitive day rate of up to £770 (inside IR35).,
- Provide technical leadership within the Manufacture Pillar, managing engineering change, quality, and issue resolution to keep production on schedule.
- Collaborate seamlessly with Project Chiefs, Lead Engineers, and cross-functional teams to swiftly identify and resolve manufacturing issues.
- Support the assurance and acceptance activities for the Land Combat Vehicles Portfolio, ensuring compliance with safety and engineering standards.
- Support and mentor JAG Engineers, fostering effective communication between manufacturing and other project segments.
- Maintain accurate documentation of engineering decisions, issues, and resolutions, ensuring continuous process improvement and robust governance.
A Chartered Engineer (CEng or equivalent), holding a relevant degree in Engineering or a related field. - Proven track record managing engineering teams within a production environment, ideally with experience in defence or military programmes such as GMPP or CAT A.
- Strong stakeholder management skills, capable of engaging effectively with large teams including military personnel and civilian experts.
- Experience with engineering change management and configuration control (asset management) is highly desirable.
- SC clearance is mandatory.
