Full Job Description
Job Purpose We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated AI Rostering & Workforce Specialist to design, develop, and implement intelligent rostering solutions across our NHS Trust. The role will leverage artificial intelligence, predictive analytics, and optimization techniques to improve staffing efficiency, compliance with NHS contractual rules, staff satisfaction, and patient outcomes. This role will play a pivotal part in workforce planning, supporting operational excellence, and preparing for future demand surges or organizational changes, including mergers. Key Responsibilities AI & Rostering Development - Design and implement AI-driven rostering systems that adhere to Agenda for Change rules, local agreements, skill mix requirements, and staff preferences. - Develop predictive models to forecast patient demand and optimize staffing coverage. - Create algorithms that dynamically adjust schedules for staff absence, emergencies, or surges in demand. - Ensure AI scheduling tools
are explainable, transparent, and auditable for staff, management, and unions. Process Improvement & Integration - Analyse current rostering processes using process mining and workflow analysis. - Identify inefficiencies, redundancies, and opportunities for automation. - Integrate AI rostering solutions with existing HR, payroll, and electronic rostering systems. - Collaborate with IT, HR, and operational teams to ensure smooth adoption and system reliability. Staff Engagement & Governance - Engage with staff and management to understand rostering pain points and preferences. - Ensure AI scheduling maintains fairness, staff wellbeing, and compliance with regulations. - Provide training, guidance, and dashboards to support transparent decision-making. Monitoring & Continuous Improvement - Monitor system performance and accuracy, identifying areas for improvement. - Conduct scenario planning for workforce planning, including emergency or seasonal demand surges. - Stay current
