Full Job Description

We are looking for a AI Automation Engineer this role will be based at: Remote with Occasional Office Visits, SW1H 0EU The right candidate will:

  • Design, build and maintain AI agents and automation tools using Copilot Studio and Microsoft Power Platform, ensuring that solutions integrate effectively with SharePoint, Azure services and other departmental systems.
  • Develop intelligent solutions in partnership with external providers, contributing engineering expertise to the delivery of more advanced AI capabilities across DHSC.
  • Collaborate with Data Engineering and Data Management to ensure that all solutions use secure, well documented, AI ready datasets and that data pathways are safe, governed and reusable.
  • Work closely with user research, design and UX specialists to ensure agents are intuitive, meet real world user needs and can be adopted at scale across business areas.
  • Provide a full service wrap for deployed tools, including documentation, monitoring, iterative improvement, troubleshooting and ensuring long term maintainability.
  • Support alignment with governance, risk and compliance requirements, ensuring solutions uphold departmental standards for responsible AI, information assurance, cyber security and ethical use.
  • Contribute to cross-team collaboration, working with policy, product, data, cyber and operational colleagues to ensure solutions work end-to-end in practice.
  • Help develop reusable components that accelerate future delivery, enabling consistent, scalable implementation of AI-enabled solutions.
  • Support capability building across DHSC, particularly by sharing engineering best practices and helping business areas understand what is possible through agent-based automation.

    Experience designing and building intelligent automation or AI solutions using Microsoft Power Platform, Copilot Studio or similar low-code/no-code platforms.
  • Ability to integrate solutions with systems such as SharePoint, Azure services and other enterprise platforms.
  • Understanding of secure data handling, including governance, permissions, documentation, and compliant use of AI-ready datasets.
  • Experience collaborating with multidisciplinary teams including data engineering, user research, design, cyber security, and business areas.

    I am currently representing Department of Health & Social Care, who are offering an initial temporary contract for a period of 6 months with a view to be extended or offered a permanent position for the right candidate at a rate per day which is negotiable dependent upon experience
