An exciting opportunity has arisen at The Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, based within the Intestinal Failure and Rehabilitation Unit at Freeman Hospital. We are seeking a dynamic, enthusiastic, and highly motivated individual to join our Allied Health Professionals (AHP) Team as an AHP Associate Practitioner. This unique role spans three disciplines, Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, and Dietetics within a specialist regional centre for patients with intestinal failure. This is a rare chance to be part of a specialist team dedicated to improving outcomes for patients with intestinal failure. You will gain valuable experience across three AHP disciplines, contribute to innovative patient care, and play a key role in service development. The postholder will be supported by qualified staff from each profession and will undergo competency-based training relative to the clinical speciality. It would be suitable for an experienced Band 3 keen to develop or an existing Band 4 who is keen to specialise within this patient group. Please expand the job details section and read all of the information before applying for the vacancy., Deliver prehabilitation and rehabilitation, aiming to optimise function and enhance quality of life through comprehensive therapy assessment, intervention, and ongoing re-evaluation.
  • Work closely with the multidisciplinary team (MDT) to ensure timely and effective discharge, including identifying and facilitating appropriate onward referrals.
  • Manage and coordinate own non-complex caseload, with support from the Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, and Dietetic Teams. In addition to supporting delivery of care to patients with more complex needs.
  • Undertake delegated administrative tasks to assist the AHP team and contribute to the efficient running of the Intestinal Failure Unit.
  • Contribute to the day-to-day operations, ensuring a consistently high standard of care for all patients.
  • Participate in delivering education to patients and the wider MDT, supporting knowledge sharing and best practice.
