Advanced Social Work Practitioner - Emergency Duty Team

This is an exciting opportunity to join our Emergency Duty Team (EDT) as an Advanced Social Work Practitioner. Working for the Emergency Duty Team you will be part of a small team, managing the shift and responding to all urgent safeguarding contacts for children, young people and vulnerable adults received outside office hours. You will be supported by your colleagues, Team Manager and a Head of Service on Call. You will be required to triage each contact, liaise with partner agencies and apply safeguarding threshold to make proportionate, appropriate and timely responses, with safe plans until the next working day. Working for the Emergency Duty Team demands the need to be able to work under pressure with limited information and quickly form professional relationships with partner agency professionals. You will undertake all urgent safeguarding measures, ensuring children and vulnerable adults are safe with their needs met and prioritised outside office hours. Alongside managing complex and high-risk safeguarding situations, you will provide professional guidance and support to colleagues on shift, helping to ensure consistent application of threshold, decision making and best practice. This is a hybrid role, with office-based working during weekends, working a six-week rolling rota. Over the rota cycle you will cover a range of shifts, including:

• 8.00am - 4.30pm
• 4.30pm - 1.00am
• 12.30am - 8.30am
• 10.00am - 10.00pm
Enhanced payments are paid in addition to salary for working unsocial hours. You will:
• Provide expert advice, guidance and decision making in relation to safeguarding emergencies outside office hours.
• Lead on safeguarding responses where urgent intervention is required
Undertake risk assessments, threshold application / decisions and safety planning, making safe until the next working day.
• Work jointly and effectively with police, health services, residential providers and other multi agency partners.
• Promote high quality, relationship-based practice in challenging situations.
  
  You are an experienced social worker with a minimum of three years' post-qualification experience, who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is confident making sound decisions under pressure and in isolation, whilst managing risk. You have strong safeguarding knowledge, excellent analytical skills and the ability to support others through complex situations., A recognised social work qualification and Social Work England registration
• At least three years' post-qualification experience working with children, young people and families
• Significant experience of safeguarding children and managing risk
• Strong decision-making and assessment skills
• Experience of supporting and developing practitioners
• Confidence in leading professional discussions with partners and agencies
• The ability to remain calm, resilient and focused when responding to complex emergency situations
• A commitment to delivering high-quality services for children, young people and families outside office hours
Experience of working within an Emergency Duty Team or another out-of-hours social work service would be advantageous, although this is not essential. Most importantly, you will understand the importance of timely intervention and the impact that effective out-of-hours support can have on people's lives.
