Job overview
Gateshead Health NHS Trust is seeking to appoint a full time Advanced Practitioner in Paediatric Audiology at Band 7 level. This is a small but busy department with innovative ideas to improve the patient's experience. We are committed to providing the highest standard of hearing care to the local population. We have an extensive Children's and Young Person's Audiology service providing diagnostic and rehabilitative care for patients from birth until they exit full time education.
Your key area of performance would be the provision of high quality patient centred hearing assessment and rehabilitation packages to our service users. We offer a range of flexible working arrangements and you will participate in a roster that may include some weekend working., As an Advanced Practitioner you will be part of a team delivering a diagnostic audiology and hearing aid service to adults and children in the Gateshead area as well as having special responsibility for ensuring the provision of a particular aspect of the service.
You will also share a lead role in the Children's Hearing Service and with training in the department.
General
· As an advanced practitioner provide a range of audiometric investigations and a comprehensive hearing aid service to both adult and child population.
+ To undertake highly specialist diagnostic evoked potential testing, including Auditory Brainstem Response (ABR), Auditory Steady State Response (ASSR)
+ Organises and participates in delivering training to multi-professional groups including junior members of staff and degree students on placement from local universities.
+ Assist with the daily operational management of the department and workforce.
+ Analyse and integrate complex data from a number of sources and communicate the information to patients, relatives and carers of hearing impaired children (involves sensitive support and counselling where they may be significant emotional distress).
