Advanced Paediatric Audiologist / Team Leader Paediatric Audiology

These posts would be ideal for experienced Paediatric Audiologists / Clinical Scientists who would like to further develop their service development, leadership, management and advanced clinical skills. You will be working alongside our other team leaders, reporting to the Head of Paediatric Audiology. These posts are funded at 1.6WTE. Ideally, we are looking to fill these posts as 1.0WTE full-time and 0.6WTE (22.5hrs/week), but would equally consider two or more part-time contracts.

The role is primarily concerned with the delivery of advanced clinical practice in paediatric audiology including behavioural testing in children considered non-routine, objective testing, and hearing aid fitting and verification. In addition, this post carries service development and line-management responsibilities. The post holder will work closely with the Head of Paediatric Audiology in the delivery of the newly configured service. They will be expected to supervise, coach and mentor junior members of staff to ensure that a consistently high-quality clinical service is provided. Time has been allocated for the leadership, management, training and service development aspects of the role., You will be based at the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford and will also be required to undertake clinics in Banbury and at other locations around the county including Brackley and Didcot. The department offers flexible working arrangements.

You will be an audiologist with BSc or PTP in audiology with additional training in paediatric audiology, or a Clinical Scientist (Audiology) andmustbe registered with HCPC as a Clinical Scientist or AHCS as an Audiologist (please note that HCPC HAD registration is not sufficient). Evidence of further specialist training and experience in paediatric audiology in an NHS context is expected, including provision of hearing aids. You will have highly developed skills in undertaking developmentally appropriate audiological assessments in children of all ages, including those considered non-routine.

OUH is one of the UK's largest teaching hospital trusts. We provide a comprehensive paediatric audiology service including assessing babies referred from the Newborn Hearing Screening Programme, the behavioural and objective assessment of children of all ages and the habilitation of children with hearing loss. The paediatric audiology service sits alongside a busy adult audiology service and our Auditory Implant Programme. You would be joining a large team comprising Audiologists, Assistant Audiologists, Clinical Scientists (Audiology), Hearing Therapists and administrative colleagues. We are actively involved in training and have colleagues on PTP and STP programmes, with all staff having regular CPD opportunities. The service has undergone significant development over recent years and is actively working towards IQIPS accreditation.
