Full Job Description
Current clinics are paediatrics and low vision. Burton Hospital has an established Ophthalmology service with the following clinics:
- glaucoma
- medical retina
- anterior segment
- oculoplastic disorders
- corneal Many of these clinics would benefit from optometric support and the final job plan will depend on the clinical skills and interests of the successful applicant. There will be support for the development of this post by the optometry team based at Royal Derby Hospital. Hospital Optometry core skills of refraction (diagnostic and paediatric), post-op cataract assessment, contact lenses. Low vision would be expected. All other specialist training and interests can be considered in the job role ( med ret / acute care / glaucoma etc)

There is a new and exciting opportunity to expand the role ofHospital Optometry at Burton Hospital and it's associated sites at Lichfield and Tamworth. The aim is also to provide other optometric support to the Eye clinic at Burton and it's associated sites which currently only involve support in paediatric clinics. This is an exciting new role that will suit someone with previous hospital experience who wishes to continue to develop their clinical skills as well as being involved in the development of a new optometry department. The successful applicant will cover the current paediatric clinics at Burton Hospital and at the peripheral hospitals of Lichfield and Tamworth as well as develop the Optometry role at Burton Hospital. Whilst the job is being advertised as full-time, consideration will be given to applicants who prefer nearly full-time.
