Generative artificial intelligence (AI) describes algorithms that can be used to produce new content, including audio, code, images, text, simulations, and videos. It is developing all the time and is now being used as a support mechanism for all kinds of content-based creations. Please note the use of AI is monitored and if applicants have used it then they are required to declare this., The aim of the fellowship is to increase endoscopy experience whilst still being able to access other speciality training. Therefore, posts should be eligible for OOP-T status and could count towards training (the length of time that counts toward clinical training will be dependent on OOPT application and SAC approval).
UHBW will be provide two dedicated Endoscopy training lists per week. One - two sessions per week will be available for research and/or further ad-hoc training. Trainees may chose to focus on developing diagnostic skills or endoscopic resection. Five sessions per week will be allocated to speciality training to include outpatient clinics, ward and speciality inpatient outreach, with the mix of these sessions to be allocated by the employing trust. These five sessions will be in effect "backfill sessions" freeing up one of the local SpRs and enabling them to attend endoscopy for additional training and/or deliver service lists., the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults. Anonymous information will be used from your application in order to ensure we're meeting our pledge., To develop confidence and key skills in navigating the on-call endoscopist role, the post-holder will regularly contribute to the on-call endoscopy rota under direct supervision from the on-call endoscopy consultant. Sessions may delivered at any of the UHBW sites (Bristol Royal Infirmary, South Bristol Community Hospital and Weston General Hospital) but it is anticipated that most sessions will be in Bristol.
The successful candidate will also have a significant involvement in organising and delivering endoscopy training both within UHBW and regionally, primarily through involvement with the Bristol Endoscopy Training Collaborative-run Upper GI Haemostasis and colonic polypectomy courses (currently run three times per annum).
This is a 12-month position, starting on Tuesday 8^th September 2026. fellowships can be full time or less than full time.
Trainees must seek the approval of their TPD before submitting an application.
Accountability: Fellows will report to their clinical supervisor. The fellows will be accountable to the employing trust's responsible officer.
All trainee applicants must provide evidence of support from their Training Programme Director and be able to start the post on the Tuesday 8^th September 2026.
