Full Job Description
This is an exciting new post for Ipswich Musculoskeletal services. Working alongside the consultant orthopaedic geriatrician the successful candidate will support with the care and management of patients admitted to the two trauma wards at Ipswich, with a focus on care of patients over 65 admitted with a fragility fracture.
The main responsibility will be to support the orthopaedic geriatric consultant in management of this patient group.
This post is open to all ACPs currently working at Band 8a level but also AHPs working as a Band 6/7 who hold the relevant master's degree in Advanced Clinical Practice or who are currently on the Master's programme.
The successful candidate will be required to undertake specific orthopaedic geriatric competences. For Band 6/7s completion of these competencies will be required before uplift to Band 8a.
The Advanced Clinical Practitioner (ACP) will work as an autonomous practitioner within the Trauma and Orthopaedic service, providing advanced clinical assessment, diagnosis and management for patients with trauma, orthopaedic and ortho-geriatric conditions. The successful candidate will be under the supervision of the consultant ortho-geriatrician who will support with developing their ortho -geriatric skills and knowledge.
The role will focus particularly on the management of frail patients and those presenting with fragility fractures, ensuring high-quality, evidence-based care throughout the patient pathway.
The post holder will practise in accordance with the four pillars of Advanced Practice defined by the NHS England Centre for Advancing Practice and must evidence their contribution
towards the four pillars of practice, Clinical Practice, Leadership and Management, Education and Research and Quality Improvement.
The ACP will work collaboratively with the orthopaedic and orthogeriatrician teams to improve patient outcomes, provide clinical leadership and contribute to service development across the trauma pathway.
