Advanced Clinical Practitioner

We are delighted to invite applications for substantive posts as ACPs in Emergency Medicine. The successful candidates will join The Royal London's team of Emergency Medicine ACPs. The post is ideal for candidates with experience in emergency care looking to develop experience in a well-supported teaching hospital and major trauma centre environment.

Successful candidates will join a friendly, highly motivated, consultant-led team delivering high quality emergency care to East London. The department receives a full range of emergencies from the local area in addition to major trauma from North East London and Essex and patients requiring Hyper-Acute Stroke Services, with a total of 215,000 patients seen each year.

We hope that those appointed will benefit from the unique opportunities that the Royal London brings in terms of exposure to the management of major trauma, ultrasound and procedural skills, teleconsultation and access to an award-winning research department. There is also scope for development of leadership and management skills and education within the ACP programme and wider department.

The post is open to newly qualified to credentialled ACP level practitioners who will be based in the emergency department working on a full shift rota. Clinical duties are supported by 24/7 consultant presence, senior training registrars and a team of junior doctors and practitioners., The role of the Advanced Clinical Practitioner (ACP) is integral to the medical assessment, management and referral of patients presenting to the emergency department at the Royal London Hospital. The Royal London Emergency Department's ACPs are embedded as an integral part of the emergency medical team, working alongside physician associates, doctors in training, clinical fellows and consultants to form a multidisciplinary medical team. The ACP shares the same responsibilities and opportunities as the equivalent clinical fellow.

As part of the multidisciplinary medical team the post holder will provide clinical expertise towards developing and enhancing the clinical service. The post holder will demonstrate advanced skills and competencies and ensure that evidence based practice is inherent in all aspects of care and treatment. Working within the multidisciplinary team following local and nationally agreed protocols and guidelines, the advanced clinical practitioner exercises independent judgement under supervision to assess, investigate, diagnose, plan, implement and evaluate the clinical care and management of Emergency Department patients. They work alongside and support the education and development of medical, nursing and AHP colleagues.
