Full Job Description
This is an exciting opportunity to join the Trauma and Orthopaedic Pharmacy team based at Aintree University Hospital. The post holder will play a key role in the management of patients admitted with Trauma, including hip fractures, lower limb fractures as well bone and joint infections. This role involves active involvement in prescribing medicines for this patient group. The role will also support the supervision and development of pharmacists and technicians within Trauma and Orthopaedics, ensuring the provision of a high-quality, safe and effective clinical pharmacy service. We are seeking a dynamic, motivated and forward-thinking clinical pharmacist, ideally with demonstrable experience in Trauma and Orthopaedics, who will act as an integral member of the multidisciplinary team. The successful candidate will work closely with a variety of consultants and surgeons as well specialist nurses to optimise medicines use and support complex clinical decision-making., Assist the Lead Divisional Pharmacist for Surgery (Aintree site) in the development of pharmacy services and medicines management within the Trauma and Orthopaedic Directorate. To provide a safe and effective advanced clinical pharmacy service to the Trauma and Orthopaedic Directorate. Assist the Lead Divisional Pharmacist for Surgery (Aintree site) in providing clinical training and supervision, relevant to Trauma and Orthopaedics for other departmental staff., To provide an advanced clinical service to the Trauma and Orthopaedic directorate in accordance with professional, departmental and Trust policies Provide non-medical prescribing services to the Trauma and Orthopaedic directorate Assist the Lead Divisional Pharmacist for Surgery (Aintree site) in the development of pharmacy services and medicines management within the Trauma and Orthopaedic Directorate. To provide a safe and effective advanced clinical pharmacy service to the Trauma and Orthopaedic Directorate. Assist the Lead Divisional Pharmacist for Surgery (Aintree site) in providing clinical training and supervision, relevant to Trauma and Orthopaedic for other departmental staff.
- Vocational master's degree in pharmacy
- Membership of The General Pharmaceutical Council
- Diploma in clinical pharmacy or equivalent documented clinical experience
- Full NMP qualification, (or qualified in the next 3 months and registered with the GPhC as an independent prescriber Desirable criteria
- MRPharmS
- UKCPA membership, Significant experience in a relevant specialist pharmacist role
- Antimicrobial Stewardship experience
- Demonstrable commitment to continuing professional development / education Desirable criteria
- Experience as a NMP, Excellent clinical knowledge and practical clinical skills for the relevant specialist role
- Good all round clinical knowledge and practical clinical skills, Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team.
- Self-motivating and able to motivate/inspire others Desirable criteria
- Ability to affect and manage change, Computer literate, You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
