Full Job Description

The Advanced Clinical Endoscopist will work as an autonomous, JAG-accredited practitioner delivering high-quality, patient-centred endoscopy services within the Trust. The post holder will undertake independent diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic procedures, demonstrating advanced clinical assessment, decision-making, and treatment skills across a range of gastrointestinal conditions. In addition to clinical practice, the role provides professional leadership within the Endoscopy Unit, supporting service development, quality improvement, and maintenance of JAG accreditation standards. The post holder will work collaboratively with the Endoscopy Clinical Lead, senior nursing team, consultants, and multidisciplinary colleagues to ensure safe, effective, and responsive Endoscopy services aligned with national standards and Trust priorities.,

  • Work independently as a JAG-accredited Advanced Clinical Endoscopist, performing diagnostic and therapeutic procedures with accountability for clinical decisions.
  • Assess, diagnose, and manage patients with gastrointestinal symptoms, including appropriate investigations and treatments such as biopsy and polypectomy.
  • Deliver high-quality, patient-centred care, ensuring patients are informed and supported throughout their pathway
  • Maintain accurate clinical records and request appropriate investigations in line with protocols.
  • Practice in line with national guidelines, KPIs, and JAG standards, maintaining clinical competence.
  • Provide clinical leadership, supporting and supervising staff and contributing to workforce development.
  • Work collaboratively within the multidisciplinary team as a specialist resource.
  • Contribute to service development, innovation, and pathway improvement.
  • Support JAG accreditation through audit, governance, and quality improvement.
  • Contribute to education, audit, and research to support continuous improvement.
  • Participate in management responsibilities, including incidents, complaints, and service evaluation.
