Advanced Audiologist / Team Leader Adult Diagnostic Audiology

We have an exciting opportunity for a full time Band 7 Advanced Audiologist / Clinical Scientist to join us at Oxford University Hospitals. This is an ideal post for an experienced Audiologist / Clinical Scientist to have a key role in leading and developing our adult audiology service and would suit someone who would like to further develop their specialist adult audiology, management and leadership skills. You will be working closely with our Team Leader for Adult Rehabilitation, our Hearing Therapy Lead, and our Audiology Training Leads, reporting to the Lead for Adult Audiology. We are looking for a forward-thinking and highly motivated individual to join us as we continue our service development journey., The postholder will provide an adult audiology service for adults with hearing loss, balance / vestibular disorders and tinnitus including those with additional / complex needs. The role includes routine and advanced diagnostic assessment and the fitting and verification of routine and non-routine hearing aids. You will provide an expert contribution to monthly Balance MDT clinics, and audiological support and expertise to neuro-otology and neurofibromatosis type-2 (NF2) clinics.

In addition, you will also have a key role in the operational management of the service, as well as supervising and line-managing Audiologists and Clinical Scientists. You will be expected to lead service development, working closely with the Head of Adult Audiology and other senior colleagues.

We are actively involved in training and have colleagues on degree apprenticeship, PTP and STP programmes, with all staff having regular CPD opportunities. The service has undergone significant development over recent years and is actively working towards IQIPS accreditation.

You will be based at the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford and may be required to undertake clinics at a variety of locations around the county including Banbury, Wantage, Didcot and Brackley. The department offers flexible working arrangements.

You will be an audiologist with BSc or PTP in audiology or a Clinical Scientist (Audiology) and must have a high level of clinical expertise in vestibular audiology. You must be registered with HCPC as a Clinical Scientist or AHCS as an Audiologist (please note that HCPC HAD registration is not sufficient). Previous NHS experience at Band 6+ level is also essential, with previous experience of operational management and staff supervision an advantage. You will require excellent communication skills, a flexible approach and be a team player.
